Steph grins, “You don’t think Dami’ll mind? I’m not exactly her favourite person, you know. And even if she does let me stay without trying to slit my throat or anything, I’m not gonna let you sleep on the floor! We can just bunk together. You know, like old times,” she winks before turning to smile at the waiter carrying their food.

“Well I can’t really speak for Dami, but I’m just going to cross my fingers and hope she doesn’t mind. And if she does then I’ll just harass her until she agrees to it. She likes you. Even if she doesn’t admit it.”

Tee tries her best to keep her blushing to a minimum, just the thought of being so close to Steph in a bed. The waitress returns and they promptly order and wait for their food to arrive.

“God, I hope so. She’s not so bad once you get past—ya know—the brooding and the death threats and the knife collection.” Steph grins, noticing Tee’s blush. She had to admit though, she’s probably got a blush of her own. Not that she cares, only Tee will see.

“You know,” she says, swirling the water around in her glass, “I was talking to Bruce the other day, and he asked me where you were. Didn’t you tell him where you were going? Or am I imagining things? Or has the Bat finally left the cave, if ya know what I mean…”

“Oh the knife collection. Reasons why I lock my door at night.” She chuckles, “Although if she calls you one mean name I’m going to bomb that collection of hers.”

“Err… I may or may not have neglected to share the details of my departure and where I’d be residing with him. I just didn’t want this to turn into something bigger than it actually is.I was planning on sending an e-mail his way about everything, and I’m going to go back to Gotham eventually. …Did he seem concerned or…?”

Steph takes note of Tee’s blush and smiles softly to herself. “Hm? What?” She shakes her head a little bit then turns back to Tee, grin as wide as ever. “I came here to see you, dork. Why else?”

“Who are you calling a dork? You’re the dork. I prefer nerd or geek, thank you.” She leans forward, picking up her fork and fiddling with it.

“I figured you must have come around to do some out of town crime fighting. Who’d want to visit lame me?” Her smile faltered as her expression became more serious. “Are you staying overnight? Do you have anywhere to stay?”

“There’s no one I’d rather visit,” she says, offering her friend a warm smile. She bumps their shoulders together lightly before taking a sip of her water. “Umm, I didn’t really think about it. I’ll probably just crash in the motel I saw on my way here.”

“No way, I am not letting you stay in a motel. Motels have mold and cockroaches and unsanitary showers. Maybe I can convince Dami to let you stay in my room at her apartment. I don’t mind sleeping on the floor and there is no way in hell that I’m letting you stay at a crummy motel.”

Tee averts her eyes and begins to refold her napkin. She must have come off as too pushy.

”I mean. If you want to that is. I’m not going to force you or anything.”

“You an’ me are goin’ clubbing.” Kon said seriously to Tee’s voicemail. She was in the kitchen with a bowl of Coco Puffs, perched on the counter with her legs crossed at the ankles. She wasn’t even giving Tee a choice, this time. She was going to go. And that was that. End of story. Period.

To make sure that Tee got the message, she sent it in a text. Infinitely nicer. “You and me are going clubbing :D”. See? The smiley changed everything. After finishing off her bowl of cereal she tossed it in the sink and went into her bedroom to shower and change. This was exciting. She was going to go out with her bestest best friend and just have a really great night. Dami was off somewhere. Probably brooding or working or brooding. Maybe brooding. So that gave Tee and Kon plenty of time to catch up and just hang out.

And talk about Stephanie Brown, of course. Because that was a subject she was just dying to talk about since she’d seen Steph in town. It was going to be a bitch to talk about it with Tee, sure. But she wanted to know exactly what was going on there. If they were going to get back together. They needed to get back together. She had always wondered what broke them up, though. Maybe she’d ask that first.

The minute she received the message she clicked delete. Maybe if she pretended she never got it, she wouldn’t have to go! Her phone buzzed. The text that sealed her fate was staring her in the face. She sighed and stuffed her phone back in her pocket. This means she’ll have to pick out clubbing clothes. She didn’t even think she had clubbing clothes. What even were clubbing clothes?! She ran a hand through her hair, there was no doubt that Kon was going to want to talk about everything under the sun once they went out that night.

Tee snorted, the thought of herself in a club was laughable, she couldn’t even dance. Well, she could dance, but only formally. She couldn’t even imagine herself on a sweaty dance floor filled with people she didn’t even know grinding up against her. The mere thought of it made her uncomfortable.

She plucked her phone out of her pocket,

“Not feeling well, can’t make it.” That should do the trick.
